Normally a very graceful and stealthy species this bird looks like it may have attended John Cleese's Ministry of Silly Walks

First year Grey Heron resting on a survey vessel at Ormen Lange

Picture is taken with "digibinning" -Nikon Coolpix and Swarovski 10x42 EL

This tired first year bird rested on the back deck of a survey vessel on at Ormen Lange on 16 September 2006. It was no doubt attempting to cross the north sea to spend the winter in the U.K. but ran into headwinds and had to stop for a rest. It stayed the night onboard and was still around the next day.

These birds seemed to be trying to land onboard the vessel in an effort to evade a Great Skua.
