Northern Wheatear are a typical breeder both along the coast and in the hills in Western Norway. The species is common in Øygarden as a migrant and a breeder and is one of the typical species of Gullfjell (above the tree-line) and the Hardangervidda

Ringing and associated in-hand measurements can prove what we have always suspected - Greenland Wheatear do turn up in Øygarden.
It is incredible to think that these birds have flown all the way from Africa but are nowhere near the end of their journey - they leave Øygarden and fly all the way to GREENLAND!
