European Golden Plover - HeiloPluvialis apricaria
Ljungpipare - Hjejle - Kapustarinta - Pluvier dore

Although this species can be seen from around the end of March most of the spring birds are seen around the end of April and beginning of May.  However, numbers are usually small. Golden plover are both more regular and more numerous in the autumn with most being seen in the first half of September.

The occurrence pattern of this species at Skogsøy is very similar both in timing and numbers.

The blue line shows number of visits, the orange one the number of visits when Golden Plover have been recorded and the green one (numbers on right hand axis) shows the maximum numbers I have recorded in any three day period.
