Pectoral Sandpiper - Alaskasnipe - Calidris melanotos
Tuvsnäppa - Stribet Ryle - Palsasirri (Alaskansirri)

This Pectoral Sandpiper, a male in summer plumage, turned up on my local patch at Tjeldstø on 22 June 2006. Being very vocal it was first picked up on call and was reasonably confiding during the few minutes of observation. It flew up and displayed with / chased two Common Snipe - not quite the behaviour expected of what should have been an exhausted migrant.
