Red-backed
shrike is less than annual in Øygarden.
There have been a
number of interesting records of this species including late autumn
record of a bird with a very red tail and another bird that apparently
attempted to spend the winter at Herdlevær. The majority of
records come from Herdlevær
and Hernar.
Red-backed Shrike
have also bred in the Tjeldstø
/ Sture area.
The following images are of a first year bird at Årnestangen,
near Oslo
in the east of Norway where this species is decidely more
regular than back home in Øygarden.
