Nuthatch are generally not very common in Øygarden, there may be a few pairs at some locations but the species is most usual as an irruptive migrant during some autumns. As with many irruptive migrants this species prefers to migrate under clear and calm conditions in late September or October. During such movements small flocks of them can be seen.




Some visible migration locations where the species does not normally occur lend themselves well to the detection of these movements - Gullfjell (see link above) is an ideal spot for this.
