Herring Gulls are a
popular species with ringers and often seem to get a colour ring. In
urban areas of Norway large numbers of these birds are seen bearing
colour rings. Out in Øygarden colour ringed birds are not a
common sight. This first year bird was ringed 182km to the north and
gives some indication of the origin of some of the birds seen in the
area. Colour ringed birds ringed as chicks nearby have also been
recorded here - so there is obviously a mix of birds that live here and
visitors from further north.
