Glaucous
gull is a regular visitor to Øygarden with birds turning up
each
winter, some are long stayers and can be found wherever flocks of gulls
gather, whilst others are seen migrating up the coast from places like Skogsøy.
October to March are the best months. They are also a regular visitor
to downtown Bergen during the winter months.
This bird was
present in Bergen city centre during the winter 2019-2020.

It is also a common bird
offshore all over the
Norwegian sector
of the North Sea where the species can be seen at any time of year,
although they are far more numerous in the winter months. Huge numbers
can be seen well into the spring in the Barent's Sea.
