Collared Dove
Collared Dove, Playa Blanca, Lanzarote, 30 October 2007

Collared Dove are one of the two commonest species around the resorts in Lanzarote- a far cry from their previously scarce (a few records per year) migrant status in Øygarden, Norway. In recent years this species has established a foothold in Øygarden and is now a regular breeder at at least two localities.

Surprisingly this species is quite regular offshore in late spring / early summer - it seems that this species "explores" for new areas at this time.
