Black-throated Diver are a not common sight in Øygarden, small numbers are seen on migration but winter records are even less common so the bird pictured below was a lucky find. For more details of this species migration in the area see this page.

Over much of eastern Norway Black-throated Diver are a widespread species and can be found close to the capital city Oslo as well as in more remote upland areas such as Engerdal in Hedmark.
