Tree Pipit, Lanzarote

This species is an infrequent but annual migrant in Øygarden where I have occasionally also heard it singing in potential breeding habitat. It is a regular breeder and passage migrant on Gullfjell.

In the late autumn the call of Tree Pipit can get the heart pumping as it sounds very similar to the rarer Olive-backed Pipit. So any birds seen in October are paid some extra attention. This bird flew up calling and disappeared - however, after much effort I tracked it down and found it to be just another late autumn Tree Pipit - an exciting hour or so none the less:)
