the best places to see this species.

The
above picture shows in part the incongruity of the English name for
this species - Mediterranean gull is the one with the black head. The
Black-headed gull have dark brown heads. Another thing wrong with the
name is that this bird is not actually that common over much of the
Mediterranean - the Norwegians call it "Black Sea Gull" which is to me
a better name.
