Linnet are one of the commonest breeding finches in Øygarden where they are a summer migrant - it is very rare to see this species during the winter months in Øygarden. A big difference from my home turf in Northumberland where this is a common species all year round. Flocks build up in suitable areas in August/September before they leave for the winter and only occasional birds are seen after this time.

This species is a common breeder on Hernar - sometimes nearly as common as Twite
