Crag
Martin are a species I commonly see on Crete (for more on Crete see here)
and have also seen on migration across the Mediterranean (see Eastern Med).
However, the pictures here were taken rather closer to home on the
island of Hernar,
Øygarden. I found this bird, a first for Norway, on the
morning of 06 May 2011. Needless to say it provoked something of a
twitch with birders turning up from all over the country.

Photographing this
bird
was not easy. Hampered by poor light early in the day, a suspected
broken "trigger" finger and regular disappearing acts the bird finally
gave itself up in bright sunshine minutes before the boat was due to
leave....
