Tufted
Duck are regular spring migrant at Skogsøy with a very clear
peak in the first half of May; the species is rare on autumn passage. I
have often wondered why so few are recorded, perhaps they are almost
exclusively nocturnal migrants or head north overland?
It would seem that the species is more numerous here than at the
nearest comparable site, Utsira.
The blue line shows number of visits, the orange one the number of
visits when Tufted Duck have been recorded and the green one shows the
maximum
numbers I have recorded in any three day period.
